THE ROUTE WILL BE MARKED FROM EARLY MORNING BUT IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!!

The Run:

The start is from the Old visitor centre car park heading down the tarmac over the speed bumps. Follow the main way out to a point where a fire road turns right (OS 718272) Follow this fire road, do not turn off any paths as it ascends. Be aware that this is also the entrance/exit to the races car park and some residences access road and although they have been warned of the event, accidents do happen!
After 1.5 kilometres, turn left onto the Mountain bike trail(OS722258)
Now comes the fun part! The height you have gained now has to be lost running down the MTB route to the end. DO NOT turn until you get to the end of this singletrack. When a T Junction in the path is met (OS719271, turn left and ascend back up to the fire road.
Turn right down the fire road and then left back up to the old visitor center. Follow the road to transition in the circular car park on the left and the start of the mountain biking.

Transition: This is where your bike will be kept whilst running. Whenever moving your bike ensure your helmet is fastened on your head as not doing so results in being stopped to do so and if ignored, a two minute penalty is incurred. Do not ride in transition but follow the marshal's instructions out of transition, running with your bike to the mount area where you can start cycling. The route goes out straight then left through a gate and singletrack.

The Bike Bit: BIKE, 20 Km -You need to have your bike number attached to the front of your bike and wear a number on your back and it needs to be visible.
TWO LAPS OF THE FOLLOWING. FOR THOSE WHO HAVE COMPETED BEFORE: NEW ROUTE!
Have a look at the start and choose an appropriate gear before you rack your bike. Signs will be put out but, as always, it is up to you to navigate a safe course - look at it/ try it out/ walk it if necessary.
Ascend the twisty singletrack and cross a road at the top. Carry on to a junction with a fire road. Turn right, follow this fire road, to the first turning left.(OS717264). Turn left and follow the main route, ignoring any turnings off. The route descends to a junction at OS715248. Turn right, follow the main fire road to pick up the TAWR Route again, turning right up ‘Camlan’ (Singletrack). From this point follow the TAWR trail, but missing out ‘Als loop’. Keep ascending until the fire road veers left from the TAWR trail going to the right. (OS710270) At this point take the right path (Rocky Horror Show) (Rough Singletrack) and descend down this path to OS706275. Turn right and then straight on, through a gate and past a house, descending all the way. A tarmac road is reached. Turn right and negotiate a very tight Hairpin/chicane descent all on Tarmac. CARE PLEASE!! IF MUDDY IT WILL BE SLIPPY! Turn left on reaching a marshal/sign and enter the ‘dual descender’ to return to the car parks and transition area.
10 Kilometres, half way through the bike. Now complete a second lap to finish the bike section!
Link to the Bike route and profile After the second lap, turn right and return to the circular transition. Dismount in the defined area at the entrance and run (or stagger, limp, crawl) with your bike to your rack.
Ensure that your helmet is fastened on your head until your bike is racked.

The Second Run: The second run is the same as the first one so no getting lost! The finish is on the road by transition, where the start was!

IF YOU ARE LEAVING THE RACE SITE BEFORE PRESENTATION, PLEASE DRIVE WITH DUE CARE AND ATTENTION TO COMPETITORS STILL ON THE COURSE THAT ARE STILL FINISHING ON THE LAST RUN.
